Stourbridge jets started as a few of us trying to get back into netball by attending our local "back2netball" session in Stourbridge. Most of the team hadn't played since school, which meant over 30 years for our oldest member! Enough of us ended up attending regularly to form 2 teams for the back to netball winter and summer leagues. After doing pretty well in the winter, our first success came with the then named "Stourbridge stars" coming first, with "Stourbridge stripes" coming third.

During the summer league, we started thinking about starting a club and were approached by our local netball officer Zoe, who knew of someone who was interested in coaching a local team - enter Sheila! After a few meetings, we started to train with Sheila, on Tuesday evenings and entered the Wolverhampton winter league in September. The competition was a real step up from what we had been used to, but after a good start and regular wins, we started to develop well as a team.

By the end of our first season, we surprisingly had come away with 4 trophies: 2nd place in Division 5 of the league, gaining promotion to Division 4, 2nd place in the cup, winners of the handicap tournament and best league goal average (which out of around 45 teams in the league is an excellent achievement). We're all extremely proud of how far we have all come since our first match at back2netball and hope to progress further next season - maybe even enter a second team!
