WOLVERHAMPTON CITY NETBALL LEAGUE

Established 1950
Currently operates as a Winter Midweek League
Thursdays – September to April
And Informal Summer League April to July

MIDWEEK WINTER

Teams in five divisions
Central Venue – Aldersley – Umpires provided

As well as double League Fixtures there are various Competitions :

Turkey and Tipple Tournament
Shooting Competitions

Courses arranged as per demand
Informal Summer League – Central venue as for Midweek but April to July
Under 16 League operated as per demand
Regular Bulletins distributed to all Secretaries – updating on local,
county and national Netball news

Member of the Wolverhampton City Sports Advisory Council

Each season culminates in the Annual Dinner Dance and Presentation Evening
where all winners and runners-up trophies
are presented as well as the Annual Awards as voted by the League :

Secretary of the Year Umpire of the Year
Novice Umpire of the Year Man of the Year
Chic Team of the Year Sportsgirl (under 21) of the Year
Sportswoman of the Year Sportsmanship Team of the Year
Players’ Player, Umpires’ Umpire and
Long Playing Award Downes Award (voted by Umpire’s)

INFORMAL SUMMER

All teams play in drawn groups in mini-tournaments then firsts play firsts,
seconds play seconds, etc throughout the remaining weeks

New teams and individual players are always made welcome !
New individual players linked with appropriate teams/clubs.

SATURDAY LEAGUE

Currently non-operational but active from 1950 to 2003
Flexible time schedule – playing 2 Saturdays a month – Matches = one hour
Central Venue – Aldersley – Umpires provided
