Week 11 – November 29, 2018

Stourbridge Jets Black pressed hard in an attempt to topple league leaders Phoenix Hornets in the top flight of the Wolverhampton City Netball league but the Hornets dug deep to secure the victory. Ladybirds and Sam 2 had to settle for a draw in an evenly matched contest in division 2.
Division 3 Chasetown B romped home with an impressive score-line against Libra Lea Teal netting 36  goals to Libra’s 11.
Stourbridge Jets White kept their unbeaten record so far in division 4 beating the Diamond girls 21-15 in a competitive encounter.

Week 10 – November 22, 2018 

The Wolverhampton City Netball league saw Flames and Sam 4 match each other goal for goal in Div 2 but it was Sam 4 who bagged all five points to win 31-30.

Division 4 Whitmore J worked tirelessly to clinch their victory over Dolls 2 23-22.

Sam 5 pulled out all the stops to keep Breezers at bay, Sam winning 25-17 in division 5.

Week 9 – November 15, 2018

Whitmore Y, Phoenix Hornets, Ladybirds and Chasetown A cruise through to the semi-finals in the Open tournament in the Wolverhampton City Netball league. Chasetown A also doubling up to outplay Allsortz in the Open and winning in style.

Division 1. Lucas were pushed close by Sam 3  Lucas winning by just 2 goals to keep them in the top half of the league.

Whitmore 2 in Div 2 dug deep to stop Wordsley Storks taking the points.

Inspire just edged out Whitmore B for a tight win in Division 4.

Division 5 Thundercats kept a clean sheet in their Sam 5 clash.

Week 8 – 8 November 2018

The Wolverhampton City Netball league held the quarter finals of the Plate and Non-winners competition which saw Phoenix,  Phoenix Scorpions, Ladybirds and Pattingham Belles through to the respective semi finals

In the league Division 1 Sapphires were unlucky to lose out to Phoenix Hornets. Sapphires hampered by injury and down to 6 players by half-time just lost out in a nail-biting 17-20 defeat to current top of the league Hornets.  Chasetown A and Lucas were tied on the whistle in equally exciting 23 all game.

Division 5 Zimmers turned on the pressure to crush the Ice Ladies with a comfortable 26-13 scoreline.

Week 3 – 25 October 2018

Sam 3 claimed the bragging rights over teammates Sam 2 in the top flight of the Wolverhampton City Netball league after a close run game with Sam 3 winning 25-17. Whitmore Y snatched the victory by just a single goal from newcomers to Div 1 Stourbridge Jets Black 28-27.

Likewise Crescent doused the Flame girls in Div 2 with another very tight one goal margin match 27-26.

Division 3 Stars had a good result over Libra Lea Teal with an impressive 34-16 victory.

Week 7 – 18 October 2018

There were plenty of close games in the Wolverhampton City Netball league. Ladybirds just pipped Whitmore Y 21–20 and Stourbridge Jets Black beat Lucas 28-27 in Division 1.

Division 2 saw Fusion beat Whitmore T 25-24

In Division 3 Phoenix Scorpions pulled out all the stops to get the better of Whitmore Z in another close game winning 22-19. In form Dolls 1 continued their unbeaten record beating Lunes by 7 goals. Teammates Dolls 2 also back on track in Div 4 to clinch the game against Cresta by just 2 goals19-17.

It was a breeze for Breezers who added yet another win to their tally with an impressive victory over Allsortz.  Ice and Sam 5 had to settle for a 23 all draw.

Week 6 – 11 October 2018

The Wolverhampton City Netball league saw Stourbridge Jets Black and Sam 3 evenly matched from the off with shooters matching each other goal for goal but then it was Stourbridge who stepped up a gear eventually winning 23-15.

Sapphires were put under pressure but managed to still take all five points beating Sam 2 35-23.

Div 2 Flames and Whitmore X played some impressive netball with both teams having to settle for a draw.

Mac Arrows got a comfortable win over Sam 6 and Oddessy claimed their third consecutive win beating Ice 21-12 in Division 5.

The Wolverhampton City Netball league were back in action with Division 2 Whitmore X gaining a comfortable win over Crescent. Flames were on fire in their encounter with Libra Lea Navy winning with a ten goal victory 31-21.
Dolls 1 found their form against Libra Lea Teal to gain an impressive win 31-14 in Div 3.
The Bluebelles were jubilant as they impressed to claim a close win over Whitmore J in Div 5 winning 33-25.

Week 4 – 27 September  2018

The Wolverhampton City Netball League was back in full swing after last week’s downpour stopped play. In Division 1 Champions Sapphires had a somewhat shaky start in their first outing going down to a strong Whitmore Y lineup (21-31). Lucas dug deep to ground the Ladybirds, Lucas winning by just one goal in an exciting end to end thriller.

Div 5 Zimmers had a good result over Sam 5 with an impressive 24-9 victory.

Week 2 – September 13, 2018

This week saw the first round of the Non-winners competition which will see the following teams playing in the Quarter-finals later in the season.

In the league Division 1 Ladybirds were grounded by a determined Phoenix Hornets lineup.
Fusion were in top form in division 2 netting an impressive 42 goals to Libra’s 15.

Division 4 saw Cresta and Diamonds battle out a close contest, Cresta just edging ahead to win by just one goal at the final whistle (18-17).

Week 10 –  July 19 2018

The Wolverhampton City Netball league completed its Summer season with an exciting top two clash between Sapphires and Chasetown A. The lead swung both ways with Winter league champions Sapphires clinching the game in a 32-30 thriller. Chasetown runner-up in the league.

In the Seconds Blaze took the Second division with Whitmore X clinching the second spot.

Whitmore T topped the Thirds with Sam 4 in second place. Sam beating the Ladybirds 23-19.

The Fourth division saw Dolls and Eurostars tied on points at the top, Dolls on top with the better goal average.

Mac Arrows topped the Fifth division with Eurostars in second spot.

It went from sunshine to torrential rain in the Wolverhampton City Netball league with the latter round of games postponed due to the downpour.

In the top flight Lucas dug deep to secure a 24-21 victory over Sam 3.

In the fixtures that were played in the Fourths, Jupiter won both their games beating both Thundercats and Whitmore B in a double fixture.

 


8 – 5 July 2018

With only two weeks remaining in the Wolverhampton City Netball League unbeaten Champions Sapphires remain on top in the First Division with Chasetown A in second place following Chasetown’s 29-18 win over Sam 3.
Whitmore X top the Seconds after a winning result over teammates Whitmore Z.
It was winning performances for Libra Lea NC with Libra Lea Aqua edging out  Chasetown B 32-30. Libra Lea Navy gaining a convincing 20 goal victory over Allsortz in the Thirds.

5  – June 14 2018

Chasetown A were in fine for in their top division clash with Lucas in the W-ton City Netball league scoring 30 goals to Lucas’ 17.
Blaze who find themselves up in the seconds group this season had a good result against Whitmore X, Blaze coming out on top in a close contest 26-25.
The Thirds group saw Phoenix Scorpions make light work of Whitmore J, Scorpions scoring a respectable 28 to Whitmore’s 11.

Zimmers suffered a heavy defeat in the fifths to Inspire, Inspire winning comfortably 32-7.

Week 4 – Thursday 7th June
The Wolverhampton City Netball league saw the Summer league continue with several teams playing two or three mini games this week.  In the First division Sam 3 held Phoenix to an 8 all draw. Winter Champions, Sapphires were pushed close by Fusion but held on to win 13-12, Sapphires winning all three matches to start the season as they intend to finish it.
In the Seconds Whitmore X faced stiff competition by a competitive Chasetown B outfit, Whitmore only just winning 15 goals to 12.
The Fifths division saw Mac Arrows having a good night, starting off with a 5-5 draw but then getting into gear to secure wins over both Breezers and Ice.

Week 3 – 24 May 2018

The Wolverhampton City Netball league started the Informal Summer season with teams taking part in a mini tournament to determine their group for the season.
Whitmore T got off to a winning start in Group 3, playing three mini games,  beating Phoenix Hornets, Ladybirds and Libra Lea Navy to find themselves sitting at the top of the group. Sam 4 won two out of three of their matches, beating Libra Lea Navy and Whitmore J convincingly but just losing out to Wordsley Storks by five goals 12 goals to 17.
Allsortz did well to get into Group 3 but found the going tough in their first three games losing out to Whitmore J, Hornets and Phoenix Scorpions.
Group 4 saw Highfields, in their first season, push Whitmore B close but they just couldn’t quite get ahead and lost out by three goals.  Whitmore B going on to beat Pattingham Belles and Lunes to get a good start to their season.

Week  21 – 26 April  2018

The Open semi-final saw Lucas power through to the final to face Sam 2 after a convincing win over Libra Lea Navy.

The Open final saw Sam 2 (Div 1) showcase their skills to comfortably take the title after beating Lucas  34-19.

The Plate final saw Jupiter and Oddessy neck and neck for most of the game but the Jupiter girls hung on to for the closest of wins despite Oddessy’s best efforts.  Jupiter winning 16-15.

Div 4 Oddessy had a busy night, fulfilling three fixtures and although losing out narrowly to Jupiter and Inspire, bouncing back for a winning result over Mac Arrows (Oddessy 21 Mac Arrows 16).

Week 25 – 12 April 2018

The Annual Handicap Netball Tournament took place in the Wolverhampton City Netball League.

19 teams took part each given a handicap reflecting their current league position and were drawn into four groups.

Whitmore B, Stourbridge Jet White, Pattingham Belles and Stourbridge Jets Blue were successful in gaining a place in the semi-finals.

The semi finals saw Whitmore B and Stourbridge Jets White level at full-time 32 goals each, playing extra time with Whites winning 8-7. The other semi-final saw Pattingham Belles and Stourbridge Jets Blue coming together with Jets winning 33-24.

The final saw Stourbridge Jets White (15goals) Div 5 face teammates Blue (24goals) Div 3.

It was a competitive battle throughout with both teams having to work hard to take the title.  Whites managed to hang on to their advantage and were worthy winners winning 28-25.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Week 26 – 19 April 2018

 

Sapphires were pushed close by Chasetown A in their last match of the season but the Gems managed to keep their unbeaten record intact to secure a 26-20 victory and take the Division 1 title. Phoenix take the second spot with still one game to play.

The Non Winners Final saw Division 1 teams Whitmore X and Lucas participating in an exciting end to end final with Whitmore just having the edge to secure a deserved victory 32-25.

Unbeaten Stourbridge Jets Black had a convincing win over Eurostars to secure the Division 2 title and promotion to Division 1 next winter along with Ladybirds. The  Ladybirds take the runners up spot despite suffering a narrow defeat to Wordsley Storks 20-22. Wordsley taking third place.

25 – 29 March 2018

Chasetown A and Sam 2 battled out a close contest in the Wolverhampton City Netball League, Chasetown eventually winning by just four goals to keep them in with a chance of a top two spot in Division 1. Phoenix beat Whitmore X which keeps them in contention for a runners up spot. Sam 3 held on for a win over Whitmore Y winning 29-22.

Crescent got a crucial win over Phoenix Hornets in Division 2 (21-12) which could be the anchor which keeps Crescent out of the relegation zone.

Blaze were on fire in Division 3 as they beat Flames 30-28 in an exciting game which keeps them with a chance of a top 3 spot. Flames still top of the league with two games remaining but Whitmore T are right behind putting pressure on the leaders.

Week 24 –22 March 2018

Sam 2 and Lucas had to share the spoils in their Division 1 encounter in the Wolverhampton City Netball League. With only a couple of games of the season left, both teams are pushing for a top 3 spot.
Division 3 saw end to end exciting netball between close rivals Lunes and Blaze. Lunes had the lead for the majority of the game, but thanks to Blaze gaining some timely interceptions from GD ‘Player of the Match’ Steph Walczak, Blaze managed to claw back to equalise with just minutes to spare to keep them in sight of the division leaders.
Mac Arrows sneaked ahead of the Diamonds in Division 4 to gain a welcome victory 25-22.
Division 5 Allsortz secured another win, this time over Sam 5, with an 18 goals to 14 score-line.

The Wolverhampton City Netball league saw Sam 2  push the Division 1 league leaders Sapphires close but the Gems were not going to be beaten and hung on to clinch a 23-19 victory.
Division 2 saw Stourbridge Jets Black continue their march to the title with a convincing  victory over Crescent 31-13. Likewise teammates Stourbridge Jets Blue (Div 3) beat Whitmore J 19-15 and the Whites in Div 5 made it a hat-trick to the club, winning 26-13 over Sam 5.
Whitmore T pushed Flames close but the Flame girls edged ahead to win 30-27 which could be a crucial win in their battle with Whitmore for the top spot.

Week 21 – 22 February 2018

The Wolverhampton City Netball League hosted its annual Julio Netball competition, which saw 13 teams competing for the title.

Teams from Divisions 1-5 were split into two groups. Five minute matches were played within the groups, teams from higher divisions, played with less players when playing teams from lower division to even out the competition.

The semi finalists and winners of group A were Chasetown A who played the runners up of Group B, Whitmore Y. Chasetown winning 12-8.

Ladybirds won group B, with Blaze in second place. Blaze beating the Ladybirds 9-3.

The final consisted of Chasetown A  (Div 1 – fielding 5 players) and Blaze Div 3 – fielding 7 players). Chasetown went on to become the winners in a close match, winning 9-6.

20 – 15 February 2018

Lucas and Whitmore X are safely through to the finals in the Wolverhampton City Netball League’s Non-winners Competition. Lucas edging out the Ladybirds by just two goals and Whitmore beating Sam 2 by just one goal.

Ladybirds were straight back on court in their Division 2 league match against Dolls 1 gaining a comfortable win 36-18. Dolls had beaten Eurostars  31-27 prior to their second match defeat.

Division 3 saw Whitmore T in top form against Phoenix Scorpions scoring an impressive 36 goals to Scorpions 22.

The Diamond girls managed to hold on for a 23-18 victory over Libra Lea Aqua and Chasetown B had a convincing win over Inspire in Division 4.

The Wolverhampton City Netball League saw Lucas hang on for a two goal victory despite constant pressure from Sam 3 in Division 1. Whitmore X netted 34 goals to Sam 4’s 23 resulting in a much needed win for Whitmore.

A surprise defeat was Division 2 Ladybirds who were grounded by the Fusion girls 19-16. High scoring Whitmore T were in top form as they scored 39 goals against Cresta who replied with 18.  Flames kept hold of their early lead in their encounter with Phoenix Scorpions, Flames winning by four goals, keeping them amongst the leaders.

Smestow Ladies found their form in their Division 5 game, gaining a welcome victory over Sam 5.

Sam 4 gave their teammates Sam 2 a competitive match in Division 1 of the Wolverhampton City Netball League with Sam 2 edging ahead in the latter stages to win by four. Chasetown A gained a 10 goal victory over Whitmore Y and club mates Chasetown B also winning over the Diamond girls in Division 3.

Fusion got a convincing result of 37-16 over Eurostars in Division 2 and Stourbridge Jets Black made light work of the Dolls 1 winning 35-11.

Division 3 Dolls 2 put the pressure on Flames but lost out 20-27.

Whitmore B romped home despite the Zimmers’ best attempts in Div 5.  Allsortz did well to claim all five points in their encounter with Breezers. Breezers with a double fixture, also losing out to Ice too.

Week 17 – 25 January 2018

The Open Tournament in the Wolverhampton City Netball League saw Lucas, Sam 2, Stourbridge Jets Black and Libra Lea Navy all gaining a place in the semi-finals after successfully beating Phoenix, Flames, Ladybirds and Inspire.

Whitmore X and Y battled out a competitive match but it was Y that claimed bragging rights to win by just four goals.

Wordsley Storks are creeping up the table in Division 2 with a ten goal victory over Crescent (28-18).

Whitmore T gained an impressive win over Lunes in Division 3. (32-15). Likewise Whitmore Z pushed Cresta close but the Z’s just held on to win by two goals.

Division 4 saw Libra Lea Aqua gain another crucial win against Oddessy to keep them in the top two.

The Wolverhampton City Netball League saw Cup and League matches taking place. In the Non-Winners Cup Division 1 Lucas sailed past Division 5 Allsortz 42-4. Flames and Blaze both put out by Division 1 outfits Whitmore X and Sam 2 respectively.

The Plate competition saw Inspire and Jupiter both safely through to the next round.

League matches saw Sapphires, currently top of Division 1 and Phoenix second, both beat Whitmore Y and Sam 3.

Chasetown B and Pattingham Belles were tied 18 all on the whistle after an evenly matched contest.

Mac Arrows enjoyed a narrow victory over Libra Lea Navy in Division 4 by just four goals, winning 27-23.

Sam 2 and Phoenix were goal for goal in their Division 1 clash in the Wolverhampton City Netball League. Sam were leading at half-time but Phoenix managed to dig deep to ensure it was all square at the final whistle with a score-line of 20 goals each.

Division 2 saw Libra Lea Navy press the Ladybirds hard in a game that could have swung either way but it was the Birds who managed to clinch all five points with a five goal advantage winning 30-25.

Pattingham Belles in Division 4 gained a winning result over Libra Lea Aqua winning 23 goals to 18, Libra gaining two points for being within five goals.

Stourbridge Jets White kept their clean sheet in Division 5 with a good win over Allsortz who put on a good show against the current division leaders.

Week 14

It was a close contest between Lucas and Whitmore X in Division 1 of the Wolverhampton City Netball league with Whitmore edging out Lucas in the last seconds to win by just a goal. Sapphires were pushed close by Phoenix but pulled away in the second half to win 24-15. Sam 2 got the better of teammates Sam 4 to secure victory.
Division 3 saw Whitmore T gain a good win over Cresta to keep them in the top two.
Whitmore B romped home in Division 5 scoring 40 goals to Allsortz 14 to push them into joint second place  with Stourbridge Jets White at the halfway stage. Sam 5 managed to hang on gain a five goal win over Smestow Ladies.

Week 12 – 7 December 2017

Whitmore Y had to work hard to get a winning result over Lucas in Division 1 of the Wolverhampton City Netball league  earning much needed points after a slow start to their season.

Division 2 Blaze were on fire in their double fixture, firstly extinguishing highflying Stourbridge Jets Blue in an exciting end to end game, Blaze winning by just two goals. Blaze then keeping their winning form to outplay Dolls 2 to secure their second victory of the evening winning 35 goals to 20 to push them up the table.

Mac Arrows were back on form in Division 4 gaining their first win of the season over Pattingham Belles.

Week 11 – 30 November 2017

 
As the Wolverhampton City Netball league nears the halfway stage, Chasetown A current Winter league champions held off Sam 2 29-23 in a game that could have swung either way at times. Sapphires were in fine form netting 46 goals to Lucas’ 14 to keep them at the top of Division 1.
Crescent pressed Fusion hard in Division 2 to secure a three goal victory. The Ladybirds managed to keep their clean sheet so far this season with a seven goal  victory, this time over Wordsley Storks.
It was all square in Division 4 for three fixtures. Inspire doing well to hold on for a draw against highfliers Chasetown B, Pattingham Belles and Whitmore J shared 14 goals apiece and Jupiter and Libra Lea finished with 23 goals each.

Dolls 1 and Libra Lea Navy were goal for goal in their Division 2 clash in the Wolverhampton City Netball league. The Dolls just managed to edge ahead in the final minutes to take the game.
Lunes pushed Dolls 2 all the way to secure a victory by seven goals, keeping Lunes within the top two in Division 3. Stourbridge Jets Blue were back on form to secure a comfortable win over Whitmore Z.

The Wolverhampton City Netball League saw Sapphires keep their 100% record with a convincing win over Sam 3 in Division 1.
Unbeaten Stourbridge Jets Black stay top of Division 2 with a strong win over Fusion.
Wordsley Storks were pushed hard by Phoenix Hornets in Division 2 but the Storks held on to win 30 goals to 25.
Libra Lea Aqua kept the pressure on against Chasetown B in Division 4 with a strong performance against Inspire to keep them amongst the leaders.

Whitmore X were under pressure in their Division 1 fixture in the Wolverhampton City Netball league going down 32-20 to Sam 2. Teammates Y had a shaky start against Sapphires and although having a much improved second half Sapphires maintained their lead to win the game 24-16.
Allsortz and Smestow Ladies were goal for goal in their Division 5 clash and having to settle for a draw at the final whistle.
The Plate competition saw Oddessy in fine form to beat Lunes 19-13 and then go on to beat Thundercats 18-15 in their second game to secure a place in the next round.

Lucas continue their push for the top spot with a 44-37 victory over Sam 3 in the Wolverhampton City Netball League. Phoenix and Chasetown A were goal for goal with Phoenix snatching victory in the last few minutes to win 21-20.  In Division 2 high-flying Ladybirds continued their unbeaten record with a crushing 32-7 win over Dolls 1. An evenly matched game in Division 2 took place between Wordsley Storks and Fusion, Wordsley winning by 2 goals. Crescent got the better of Eurostars by just one goal to win 19-18.
In Division 4 Pattingham Belles took the shine off the Diamond girls with a 21-9 victory. In-form Inspire stopped Oddessy’s journey with a convincing 24-10 result.

The Wolverhampton City Netball league saw two closely matched teams come together in Division 2 Libra Lea Navy just managing to gain a two goal victory winning 23-21against Wordsley Storks. Stourbridge Jets Black maintained their winning form so far this season with another victory, this time over Crescent. Teammates White in Division 5 were also in fine form netting an impressive 45 goals against Sam 7.
Division 3 saw Blaze unlucky to go down to Whitmore T, Blaze managing to stay within 5 goals to gain two points (20-25).
Phoenix Scorpions and Whitmore Z pushed each other all the way, Whitmore holding on to maintain the lead and winning by just three goals.

Lucas had to dig deep in Division 1 of the Wolverhampton City Netball League to gain a 2 goal victory over Chasetown A.
Division 2 saw Dolls 1 beat Eurostars in another close encounter, the Dolls winning 23-20. Dolls 2 also securing a winning result over Cresta by just one goal in Division 3.
Stourbridge Jets Black were victorious in their clash with the Storks, the Jets winning 30 goals to 19. Stourbridge Jets Blue and Phoenix Scorpions had to settle for a draw at the whistle in Division 3 with a 20 goal apiece scoreline.
Cakes were on sale throughout the evening where just over £300 has been raised by the league and players for MacMillan Nurses through the baking and selling of cakes over the last few weeks.

Week 3 – September 28, 2017

Newly promoted Sam 3 faced and beat their teammates Sam 2 in division 1 winning 26-20.
Lucas came out on top in the Non-winners competition in their clash with Phoenix, Lucas winning by just one goal to go through to the next round. However the tables were turned in their league match when the same teams faced each other but this time it was Phoenix who were the winners scoring 25 goals to Lucas’ 23.

Pattingham Belles, promoted to Division 4, had to settle for a share of the points with Oddessy, the game ending 25 goals apiece.
In Division 5 Sam 5 the Ice girls were unbreakable despite Sam’s best efforts, Ice winning by a ten goal margin 25-15.

Week 1 – 14th September 2017

The first week of the Wolverhampton City Netball League saw the start of the Open Knockout Competition.

Stourbridge Jets Black from Division 2 despatched teammates Blue from Division 3 21-9. The Blacks then went on to comfortably beat Division 1 side Sam 4 in the next round.

New team Stourbridge Jets White in Division 5 went down narrowly to Division 3 Flames 22-27.Flames maintaining their winning form to go on and beat Winter Division 1 Champions Chasetown A by just two goals.

Ladybirds produced back to back wins over Chasetown B and Wordsley Storks.

Libra Lea Navy were in top shooting form netting 51 goals to beat Thundercats who scored just  9. Phoenix Hornets beat Allsortz 39-9.

Sam 2 put out Blaze 35-29 then even with a player short, outplayed the Scorpions 29-18.

Division 1 Whitmore X put 36 goals past Division 4 Oddessy who replied with 10.

Winter Champions Chasetown A and runners up Sapphires showcased their netball skills in Group A of the Wolverhampton City Netball league, Sapphires eventually pulling away to secure the win and keep them with a chance of top spot. Libra Lea Leisure made light work of Sam 3 and with only one game to play are in prime position to take the title.

Libra Lea Aqua came up against a strong Wordsley Storks side in Group B, Libra managing to clinch the win by just four goals.

Group D saw clubmates Whitmore B and Whitmore J end all square on 25 goals each in their goal for goal encounter.

Wolverhampton City Netball Summer league saw highfliers Fusion under pressure from the Dolls. Despite Fusion’s player shortage they showcased some exciting netball moves and were unlucky to lose out by just two goals.

Chasetown B toppled Phoenix in close match in Group C. Chasetown winning 19-17.

Sam 4 extinquished Blaze in Group D in another closely fought contest, Sam winning by three goals and a contender for the top spot.

A 13 goal draw for Zimmers and Sam 5 was a fair result after an evenly matched game in Group E.

In the top flight of the Wolverhampton City Netball League current leaders, Libra Lea Leisure, turned on the style against Stourbridge Jets Black with an impressive 41-14 victory. Sapphires rose to the initial challenge from Phoenix Scorpions with Sapphires winning 25-12 to keep them in title contention. Whitmore Y held on to their lead three goal lead against Phoenix Hornets keeping Whitmore within the top three.

Cresta doubled Wanderers 2 scoreline in Group C 20-10.

Oddessy and Mac Arrows had a busy night both with double fixtures.  Oddessy worked tirelessly but lost out to Fusion who eventually won 19-14. Mac Arrows were initially grounded by the Dolls 18-28 but managed to regroup in their second game against Oddessy, Mac Arrows gaining a comfortable victory.

Week 4 – 25 May 2017

Chasetown A regained their winning form this week in the top group of the Wolverhampton City Netball league with a good result over Whitmore Y 27-18. Whitmore X also in fine form beating Stourbridge Jets Black in a competitive game.
Lucas turned on the style to continue their impressive start to the season, this week beating Ladybirds 32-21. Lunes in their first season in group B pushed hard but went down fighting in their clash with Libra Lea Aqua, salvaging a point for gaining 50% of  Libra’s scoreline, Libra winning 28-14. There was no stopping Wordsley Storks flurry of goals (44 in total) despite the valiant defending from Wanderers 1.

Week 3 – 18 May 2017

Newly formed Libra Lea Leisure held last season’s champions Chasetown A to a 15 all draw in their Group A clash in the Wolverhampton City Netball League. Sapphires were pushed close by Stourbridge Jets Black but managed to win 17-13.Libra Lea Leisure were back on court to steal a last minute win over Sapphires by just one goal 12-11.

Whitmore Y outplayed team mates X 17-7 then secured another convincing victory over Sam 2.

Group B saw Sam 4 in fine form gaining a comfortable win over Lunes 30-13.

Inspire pushed Phoenix close initially in Group C but Phoenix got into gear in the second half winning 34-19.

Dolls shooters were in top form in Group D scoring an impressive 45 goals to Allsortz respectable 22.

Week 2 – 11 May 2017

The Wolverhampton City Netball league held two weeks of mini games which saw 46 teams, split into five groups of various playing standards, for the start of the Informal Summer league. Teams played against each other in their initial groupings to secure their final group positions. Winners of the group going into Group A, Second place into Group B etc.

Final placings after the initial group matches can be seen below. The season getting into full swing this week.

Pattingham BellesThe Annual Julio Competition took place in the Wolverhampton City Netball League rounding up the winter season.

Teams were split into four groups and dependent upon end of season results/divisional positions, teams played with between 5 or 7 players, players randomly selecting bibs and switching positions at half-time.

A most enjoyable evening was had with Chasetown A, Whitmore Z, Pattingham Belles and Stourbridge Jets Blue all topping the groups to go through into the semi-finals.

Whitmore Z made the most of their two player advantage over Champions of Division 1, Chasetown A, to gain a place in the final. Stourbridge Jets Blue had a comfortable win over Pattingham Belles (both with 6 players), Jets going on to meet Whitmore Z in the final.

Both Stourbridge Jet Blue and Whitmore Z (6 players each) battled out a competitive final with Jets emerging the winners 10-5, to follow on from last week’s Handicap success and ending another successful season with yet another trophy for their cabinet.

WCNL – Handicap Tournament

Wolverhampton City Netball league held it’s annual handicap tournament. 24 teams split into four groups played 10 minute games with handicaps reflecting final divisional placings at the end of season. The winners of each group and going through to the semi finals were Flames, Whitmore T, Stourbridge Jets Blue and Chasetown B.

In the semi finals Flames (div 3) and Whitmore T (div 3) both with equal handicaps of 8 were tied at halftime 11 all, Whitmore progressing to the final after Flames had to withdraw due to a player injury.

Stourbridge Jets Blue (9) (div 4) played Chasetown B (12) (div 5) Stourbridge eventually winning 18-16.

Stourbridge Jets Blue (9) met Whitmore T(8) in the final. An evenly matched, end to end game saw Stourbridge manage to hang on for victory winning 15-14.

Congratulations to Stourbridge who take the Handicap title for the second year running and are continuing from last years success by winning Division 4 along with teammates Black who took the Division 3 title.


Week 15 (From 12 January) 2017

 

As the Wolverhampton City Netball League matches draw to a close Chasetown A were jubilant after securing the Division 1 title with an impressive 10 point lead . Sapphires managed to net a crucial win over the league leaders to secure themselves runners up spot.

Sam 4 take the top spot with teammates Sam 3 a close second in Division 2 to secure promotion to the top flight in the winter league.

Division 3 saw Stourbridge Jets Black crowned league winners with Libra Lea Navy in second place.

Stourbridge Jets Blue in Division 4 top the league with Lunes  second. 

Division 5 saw Chasetown B promoted along with newcomers to the league, Pattingham Belles.  Thundercats finishing third on goal average.

22 – 9th March 2017

Sapphires had a close encounter against Whitmore Y in Division 1 of the Wolverhampton City Netball League in their push to finish amongst the top three. Sapphires eventually winning by just four goals. 

In Division 3 Libra Lea Navy came out on top in their clash with Phoenix Scorpions but then had to settle for a draw against Whitmore Z in their second match of the night (25 goals apiece).  

Flames made light work of Cresta, doubling their score, keeping Flames’ hopes of promotion alite. 

Allsortz edged ahead in the final seconds against Chasetown B in Division 5 for a 23-22 thriller.

Week 21 – 2 March 2017

The Wolverhampton City Netball League saw a mix of semi-final matches and league taking place. In the Non-winners competition Chasetown A and Crescent beat Whitmore X and Flames respectively to take their place against each other in the final in two weeks.
Phoenix Scorpions comfortably eliminated Mac Arrows to secure their place in the final where they meet Chasetown B.
The Open Competition saw Sam 3 crush Phoenix Hornets on their route to the final where they will meet Phoenix who had a nail-biting encounter with Stourbridge Jets Black, the game ending level on 13 goals each but Phoenix taking the game in extra time to win 15-13.
Division 5 Pattingham Belles were triumphant in their two league matches, firstly beating Breezers in the first round and then going on to do the same against Thundercats 23-14.

Week 20 – 16 February 2017

Sam 2 pressed current leaders Chasetown A close in Division 1 of the Wolverhampton City Netball but Chasetown hung on to win 29-25 at the final whistle.
Whitmore Z put on a solid performance, even with a player down, thanks to strong defensive play and accurate shooting to win 25-18 against Phoenix Scorpions.
Oddessy in Division 4 pushed Stourbridge Jets Blue all the way but it was Stourbridge that claimed the points winning by four goals 16-12.
Chasetown B doubled Thundercats score in the Plate competition winning 24-12 to gain a place in the final.

Week 19 – 9th February 2017

Lucas put the pressure on Phoenix in Division 1 of the Wolverhampton City Netball League, Leonie Price at Centre for Lucas instrumental in steering her team to an impressive 24-9 victory.

Division 2 saw Eurostars gain a good win over Blaze to claim a comfortable 20-9 scoreline. The Ladybirds were pushed close by Fusion but managed to win the game 31-24.

Whitmore Z more than doubled Cresta’s score winning by an impressive 31 goals to 15 in Division 3.

The Diamond girls held on for a 24-20 win in a close encounter with Whitmore B in Division 4. Lunes are now back on track in their push for a top spot after beating Sam 5 25-14.

Chasetown A maintained their top spot in the Wolverhampton City Netball League, this week holding off Whitmore Y for a 35-20 scoreline.

Crescent denied Wordsley Storks a point in Division 2 with a 23-11 victory.

Division 3 saw Flames upset the Dolls to win comfortably 36-13.

Mac Arrows gained all five points against Oddessy in Division 4 winning 11-8. Stourbridge Jets Blue were in top gear against Sam 5 with an impressive 33-4 result.

Chasetown B in Division 5 outplayed  Zimmers, Chasetown almost keeping a clean sheet winning 13-1.

Week 17 – 26 January 2017

In Division 1 of the Wolverhampton City Netball League Sam 2 and Whitmore Y were goal for goal in a close contest, Whitmore just sneaking ahead at the whistle to win 17-16.

After a steady start Sapphires got into gear in the second half of their match with Phoenix. Player of the Match, Marina Gibbons GD (Sapphires) and Emily Stewart GA (Phoenix) both working tirelessly to gain a win but it was Sapphires who got the winning result 22-11.

Jupiter and Whitmore B in Division 4 were evenly matched but Jupiter managed to pull away by just one goal to win 22-20 moving them into third place.

Chasetown A clinched a narrow victory over Phoenix in a top-of-the-table clash in the Wolverhampton City Netball League to maintain their top spot in Division 1 winning by just two goals. Whitmore X were pushed close by Phoenix Hornets but held on for the win.
Division 2 saw Sam 3 turn on the style both in their play and sporting new dresses extinguishing Blaze 25-10.

Jupiter flying high in Division 4 with Sam 5 just managing to take a point from the game, Jupiter winning 23-12.
Division 5 saw the Ice girls shattered by Chasetown B, Ice losing 10-23.
